They Did Not Even Know

Way back in the latter part of 2006, my parents, Walter and Liza, lived a busy lifestyle. They enjoyed busy lives at work, they travelled when and where neccessary, they maintained an active and very busy social life and although they had discussed my arrival to the family, did not exactly plan it to the finest detail.

2007 Started off as normal with business and travel arrangements at the fore of the years' activities for them. Daddy had left for Germany in early March and Mommy met up with him in Austria towards the middle of the month. It was during this trip that the great appeal to enjoy after work drinks and the smell of oily food suddenly started becomming relatively unbearable for Mommy. They both thought that Mommy's body was starting a very late rejection of the normal oxidants from the festive season????........ or something.

They returned home to the arrival and visit from Nanna, Gandpa and the Many Beers of Calgary, Canada. Once again family festivities an the joy in seeing our dear friends from across the water delayed proper attention to Mommy not feeling as normal as what she should. They.....um, we..... bid Norm an Betty goodbye and things returned to normal. Mommy was then able to squeez a quick visit in to the doctor. A few days later, it was time for Gandpa and Nanna to enjoy a short trip to Botswana and only when Daddy had returned home from seeing them off at the airport, did Mommy break the news.

I was on my way!!!!! Hooo Haaaa Yippeeee!!

Daddy was sworn to secrecy and instructed to keep dead quiet until Nanna and Grandpa had returned. That was the longest week ever for both of them. It was only once they had returned that Daddy was pemtted to proudly announce my anticipated arrival.

Now, when Mommy had discovered that she was expecting me, the Doctor had instructed her to return for a check up after three weeks - it was at this first real check-up that it was detemined that I was already 18, yes, eighteen weeks old!!!

Mommy had to undergo a battery of tests with immediate effect as the doctor (Dr Johan van Waart - Super genious.....Daddy's hero of a Doctor) wanted to be sure about my well being.

The next few posts will highlight the ride of anticipation through my pregnancy and to my arrival on 26 September 2007.
